RENTING A CAR

Should you wish to extend your travels beyond the wedding weekend, or explore beyond Castiglione Della Pescaia, you may want to rent a car: 

  • Please keep in mind that an International Driving Permit is required in Italy.  An IDP can be easily attained through AAA.
  • Should you need one, you must specifically request an automatic vehicle.  Grosseto only  has limited amount available, so be sure to book far in advance.  Major airports always have a good supply of automatic cars.
  • Car Rental Insurance provided by major credit card companies is typically not extended to Italy.   If you have auto insurance, check your individual policy to see if Italy is covered and plan accordingly.
  • Some American car rental companies (Avis, for example) have lots of hidden fees related to insurance coverage.   We have had good experiences with Alamo and have heard good things about Sixt and Europcar.
  • Most Italian Cities require a permit to drive in the center of town.  For this reason, we recommend renting from airport locations or Grosseto,  which is located outside of the limited traffic zone.

ARRIVING BY TRAIN

The Grosseto Train Station is a 20 minute drive from L'Andana and a 30 minute drive from Riva Del Sole and Acqua Boutique Hotel.  Train schedules and booking can be found here.

There are taxis available at the Grosseto train station, or you can book a private transfer to your hotel.  Our dedicated Guest Services Team can assist you with private transfers here.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS

Private airport transfers are available to book by contacting our dedicated Guest Services Team.  You can email them at mxguestservices@sposiamovi.it. 

 Please make sure you fill out the Shared Transportation Questionnaire if you are interested in sharing a transfer with other guests.  Once all requests have been collected, Guest Services will be delighted to share further details and help coordinate.
